Breakfast Television (BT) is the branding used for morning shows broadcast by stations of Rogers Media’s television network City. As of May 2015, versions of Breakfast Television are broadcast in Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal and Calgary. Breakfast Television Calgary features Co-Hosts Ted Henley and Jill Belland, who also hosts the on-location segments, Leah Sarich as the health reporter, Andrew Schulz as the weather reporter, and Mike Yawney as the tech new reporter.
Jill Belland | On Location Host
Every morning Jill Belland dishes up a serving of Breakfast Television to Citytv audiences from the lively streets of Calgary. As BT’s On Location Host, Jill can be seen scaling buildings with firefighters, feeding bats at the Zoo, and pole dancing her way to morning show glory. Jill got her start at Citytv by pouring coffee on the morning show after graduating from the University of Calgary in the Faculty of Communications and Culture with a concentration in Media Studies. Her hard working attitude earned her a job as a production assistant for the News Department. Jill has also delivered daily entertainment news segments on MTV Canada and was the host of Wired before returning to Citytv and joining the Breakfast Television gang as their On Location Host. Jill is a trained singer, dancer and actress with a big passion for the arts. High on her list of accomplishments was singing the national anthem as a Calgary Stampeder in front of 35,000 hometown fans. Most recently she has taken her talents to the stage in productions like “The Full Monty” and “Man Out of Joint”. Jill is also passionate about charitable organizations and is actively involved with Kids Cancer Care Foundation, Inn from the Cold, Safe Haven Foundation, Calgary Interfaith Food Bank and Breast Cancer Supportive Care to name a few.

Ted Henley – Co-Host
Ted is a familiar face in Calgary – having anchored TV newscasts for more than 10-years for which he has won numerous awards. He graduated from the University of Toronto with a major in Political Science and English and from Ryerson University with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Ted volunteers his time to many community organizations including groups supporting research into finding a cure for juvenile diabetes, leukemia and other cancers. Ted also coaches minor hockey… and he helps groups like the Calgary Real Estate Board Charitable Foundation, Kids Curing Kids, and CUPS Third World Society.
Leah Sarich | Health Specialist
Leah Sarich is City Calgary’s Health Specialist. She has been reporting on health issues since 2003 and is a jack of all trades. You’ll catch her filling in regularly for weather, news and the hosts on BT. Leah started in journalism in 1996. She worked in Toronto for MuchMusic and CBC’s national current affairs program Undercurrents. She then moved to Calgary to work as a news writer, arts and entertainment reporter and news anchor for A-Channel. She was nominated for Best Television Host by the Alberta Media Production Industries Association in 2012, 2013 and 2015 and was also nominated for producing her “Body and Balance” health segments in the Best News Series category. Leah has an English Degree from the University of Saskatchewan and a Journalism Degree from the University of Regina. Leah and her husband Dewey have two children, Anna and Henry, who keep them running, laughing and rarely sleeping.Reading is one of Leah’s greatest passions. She is a strong believer of literacy and supporting your local library. She has written two educational children’s books and volunteers regularly for Calgary Reads.
Andrew Schultz | Meteorologist
Andrew helps Breakfast Television viewers plan their day with the latest forecast. Whether you need sunscreen, an umbrella or a parka – Andrew has the up to the minute weather information Calgarians can count on. Andrew aspires to one day make the cover of Avenue Magazine – or at the very least, a community newsletter somewhere. Andrew began his career as a production assistant on an internationally syndicated entertainment program The Movie Show, while enrolled in the Broadcasting program at Mount Royal College. After graduating, Andrew landed a job as a writer, producer, reporter and segment host on the program. The thrill of “live” TV drew Andrew to Citytv where he landed a job as a weather anchor for Breakfast Television. When he isn’t busy playing at work, Andrew enjoys spending time at home with his two little girls. Active in the community, Andrew does a lot of work with the Calgary Humane Society and is also a big supporter of Pace Kids. A little known fact about Andrew is that he was the first reporter on the scene of the Pine Lake Tornado tragedy in July 2000. This coverage won Andrew a C.A.B. (Canadian Association of Broadcasters) Gold Award for “Breaking News Coverage.”

Mike Yawney | Tech News Reporter
Mike Yawney keeps Calgarians up to date on the latest tech trends, steering them in the right direction when it comes to purchasing the latest smartphones, tablets, smart watches and other electronic gadgets. For the past 19 years, Mike has been crafting stories for television. He spent the first 10 years of his career in news, focusing on crime and court. in 2004 Mike pursued his true passion, turning his attention to technology. He has quickly become one of the leading voices in tech, traveling the globe to be the first to bring hands-on impressions of products from companies like Apple, Samsung and Microsoft often weeks before they hit store shelves. Mike is not only seen daily on Breakfast Television here in Calgary, he also contributes to Breakfast Television broadcasts in other Canadian markets including Toronto where he is also the Technology Specialist for CityNews. He can also be heard talking tech on any number of Rogers radio stations across the country. When Mike isn’t transfixed by technology, he can be seen filling in on a variety of roles on BT Calgary including anchoring the News, filling in for Traffic, Weather or On Location hosting duties.
In Edmonton, Breakfast Television was replaced by Dinner Television in May 2015 and replaced with a two-hour weeknight show that features newsmagazine and discussion segments. Encores of Dinner Television displaying updated news and weather information are broadcast during its former morning timeslot.
